Picnic area at Riverside Park, New London
If you want solitude, you'll find plenty of shade to relax in and view the Thames Rivers from a variety of prominent locations at this site.  The park has some playground equipment as well.  A footbridge across the railroad  that previously provided access to an unimproved area along the River is now closed due to safety concens.
