This 62-acre State park is managed for the Connecticut DEEP by Quinnipiac University. There is also access to the Park from Short Beach Road, where trails lead to the waterfront or "marina" portion of the Park. The site provides outstanding views of the Farm River and excellent birding opportunities. The Park’s waterfront is accessed by foot from a small public parking area adjacent to an electrically-controlled gate at the site's access road off Mansfield Grove Road. The Park is closed at sunset to the general public and dogs must be on leash. The docks at the site are reserved for the exclusive use of those renting these facilities. Launching of canoes and kayaks at the Farm River State Park is limited to those holding a boat launch pass. Applications for boat launch passes and more information are available from the Quinnipiac University Community Boating Program. Dock rentals at the site for motorized vessels are also made available to the public once a year through a lottery system administered by Quinnipiac University. Contact the University at 203-582-3777 for more information on how to apply for boat launch passes and dock rentals.
To help you reach Farm River State Park, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign Long Island Sound Access sign.
