Great Harbor Wildlife Management Area, Guilford
Great Harbor Wildlife Management Area, Guilford
Great Harbor Wildlife Management Area offers a small sandy beach at low tide and views of tidal marsh of Joshua Cove and Long Island Sound. Limited parking is available in the turn-around at the end of Trolley Road. Exercise extreme caution when approaching the breachway through the rip-rap at the mouth of the Cove as strong tidal currents here create potentially hazardous conditions. Do not attempt to navigate the breachway during periods of strong currents. If paddling Long Island Sound from this site, use the Trolley Road Coastal Access Site beach 200 feet to the east to land your canoe/kayak if upon your return currents through the breachway are treacherous.
