Greeneville Dam Fishing Area, Norwich | This site provides fishing and car-top boating access to the Shetucket River at the site of Norwich Public Utilities hydroelectric dam and fish ladder. The canoe/kayak put-in is a 200 yard portage from the parking area. Norwich Public Utilities offers tours of its Greeneville Dam fish lift starting the last week of April and running through the month of May. To learn more about the fish lift, go to the Norwich Public Utilities web site and follow the links. Be extremely careful near the dam. Fatalities have been reported for those who have underestimated the power of the currents near the dam. Combined-sewer overflows discharges along this segment of the Shetucket River may discharge untreated sewage after rainstorms. Avoid direct contact with riever water within 24-hours of rainstorms. To help you reach Greeneville Dam Fishing Area, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign  .

| Directions |
| From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 84 North onto Route 32 North which you will follow for 3.3 miles. Get on the Montville Conector for 1.4 miles. Move onto I-395 North for 5.3 miles. Take exit 80E. Turn slight right onto Route 82. Stay straight onto Route 2 for 0.5 miles. Turn left onto Route 12/ North Main Street for 1.1 miles. Then make a right onto 8th Street. After you pass over a canal and then the Shetucket River, the Greeneville Dam Fishing Area will be on your left. |

| From the West: Take I-95 North to exit 75 where you will merge onto I-395 North. Take exit 80 Eastoff I-395 North. Turn slight right onto Route 82. Stay straight onto Route 2 for 0.5 miles. Turn left onto Route 12/ North Main Street for 1.1 miles. Then make a right onto 8th Street. After passing over a canal and then the Shetucket River, the Greeneville Dam Fishing Area will be on your left. |
