Scholes Lane Water Access Area is a very small point of access to the Connecticut River located at the end of Scholes Lane in Essex.  There is a small grassy area that drops towards the water for launching car-top boats.  The shore is rocky. To help you reach Scholes Lane Water Access Area, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign Long Island Sound Access sign.

From the East: Take I-95 South to exit 69, take Route 9 North for 3.4 miles. Take exit 3 to Centerbrook/Essex. Turn left onto Middlesex Turnpike/Route 154. Turn right onto West Avenue 0.5 miles. Turn slight right onto Champlin Square. Stay straight to go onto West Avenue. Turn slight left onto South Main Street. Turn slight right onto Essex Square. Turn right onto Main Street. Turn right onto Scholes Lane.
