East Wharf Beach, Madison
East Wharf Beach is a town beach with a fishing pier once used as a ship building location in earlier days. Shellfishing is available west of the pier only. A gazebo offers scenic views of Long Island Sound. Memorial Day through Labor Day access is limited to pass holders. Passes are available, for purchase, in advance at the Madison Recreation office Mon-Fri. 8:30-4 or by mail. See the Madison Town web site for more information. No pets allowed at any time.

From the East: Take I-95 South to Exit 62. Turn left off the exit onto the Hammonasset Connector. Travel south on the Hammonasset Connector for approximately 1.2 miles. Turn right at the traffic light onto Route 1 (Boston Post Road). Travel on Route 1 for approximately 1.5 miles. Turn left onto East Wharf Road. Travel for approximately 0.5 miles to the end of East Wharf Road, where the entrance to East Wharf Beach is located.
From the West: I-95 North to Exit 61. At the end of the exit ramp, turn right onto Route 79/Durham Road and proceed .5 miles. Turn left onto Route 1/Boston Post Road and continue .4 miles. Take a right onto East Wharf Road and follow to its terminus (.5 miles), where the entrance of East Wharf Beach is located.
Parking Lot
Parts of the site offering views of the water are wheelchair accessible. Some facilities/uses listed may not be fully accessible to the mobility-impaired. Three (3) handicapped parking spaces and a ramp are available and extend to the gazebo, the pier, and up to the beach itself (upland area).
