The site provides an improved walkway connecting Fort Trumbull State Park to the railroad bridge at the entrance to Shaw Cove. Future plans for the walkway to span Shaw Cove would provide a pedestrian connection to City Pier and Waterfront Park. Benches, lighting, and monuments complement the walkway serving the Fort Trumbull peninsula which hosts one of the few remaining New London-Groton area commericial fishing vessel clusters.
