Saltwater Vineyards Boat Launch Ramp, Stonington
Saltwater Vineyards Boat Launch Ramp, Stonington
Views of a pristine saltwater marsh along Oxecossett Creek beckon from a canoe and kayak (only) boat launch. A paddle along the creek leads to Wequetequock Cove and DEEPís Barn Island Wildlife Management Area 1/2 mile away. This former Stonington airfield off Route 1A was redeveloped as a vineyard and special events venue. It now hosts a car-top boat launch with parking for five vehicles located at the entrance to a vineyard. Look for the wine barrel at the entrance to Saltwater Farm Vineyards on Route 1A (near Route 1) and Long Island Sound public access signs. Follow the pathway to the launch from the parking area and BE CAREFUL to time your launch and return to avoid low tide when the launch is extremely muddy/slippery.
