This small semi-improved launch provides non-motorized car-top boat access only to Poquetanuck Cove. The site does not support trailered-boat launching. Potentially hazardous conditions restrict use launch during high tide only. You MUST consult a tide chart for predicted tidal water elevations for the Thames River before using this launch, or  risk launching or landing your boat in deep mud. An interpretive sign at this site describes the ecology of the Cove and its tidal marshes. To help you reach William R. Haase IV Memorial Canoe/Kayak Launch, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign Long Island Sound Access sign.

 Directions
From the East: Exit 86 off Interestate proceed .6 miles then turn right onto US-1 / CT-12 north.Keep straight onto CT-12 for 14 miles. Turn right onto CT-2A/ Poquetanuck Rd and proceed 1.3 miles then turn right onto Cider Mill Rd. Road name changes to Avery Hill Rd. Turn right onto Arrowhead Drive and travel 0.5 miles then turn right onto Royal Oaks Drive to launch at end of road.

From the West: Exit 76 off Interstate 95, take ramp left for I-395 North toward Plainfield / Norwich 9.3 miles.Take ramp right for CT-2A East for 2.2 miles over Thames River. At light turn left onto CT-2A / CT-12 / Military Hwy. for 0.3 miles then turn right onto CT-2A / Poquetanuck Rd. Proceed 1.3 miles then turn right onto Cider Mill Rd..name changes to Avery Hill Rd. Turn right onto Arrowhead Drive and travel 0.5 miles then turn right onto Royal Oaks Drive to launch at end of road.
