Coastal Access SiteEast River Preserve
Guilford, Connecticut Describe Site  Map Site Printable Version Help
This nearly 600-acre property, acquired by the Town of Guilford in 2009, offers a variety of opportunities to explore a narrow slice of Connecticut’s coastal area extending inland along a tidal segment of the East River. Un-blazed footpaths and old logging roads provide access throughout the property. The principal access area is located on Sullivan Drive off of Goose Lane at the Town’s brush/leaf disposal area. Enter the site’s fields here at the sign announcing the East River Preserve and be sure to park in an area reserved for visitors before crossing the bridge over the East River. The Clapboard Hill Road access offers the best views of the East River but provides more limited access to the property via a short loop trail. Three private residences are nestled within a portion of the site along the hayfields nearest the Clapboard Road trailhead. Please respect this private landowner's privacy by staying on designated trails in this area and following all postings directing visitors to stay on the publicly-owned portions of the site.
