Poquetanuck Cove Boat Launch, Ledyard
There is a 100 foot carry to the put-in point.  Poquetanuck is a 2 mile long cove extending northeast from the Thames River.  It offers an excellent opportunity to visit a nearly pristine brackish water wetland, the cove being the most extensive wetlands on the Thames River south of Norwich.  The shoreline is dominated by an attractive mix of conifers and deciduous trees.  Watch for osprey fishing.  Parking for only 4 cars. To help you reach Poquetanuck Cove Car-top Boat Launch, some routes leading to this site are posted with the brown and white Long Island Sound Access sign Long Island Sound Access sign.

Ledyard, Connecticut
From the East: Take I-95 South. Take the Route 12 North exit which is exit 86 Gales Ferry/ US Sub Base and continue 0.37 miles. Turn right onto Route 12/ US-1. Follow Route 12 for 7.91 miles. Turn left into park after intersection with Route 214.
From the West: Take I-95 North to I-395 North. Take the Route 2A East exit 79A to Preston/ Ledyard and continue 0.24 miles. Take Route 2A East and continue 2.50 miles. Turn right onto Route 12 South/ Military Highway. Turn right into baot launch entrance after crossing Poquetanuck Cove bridge.
