Niantic River Eelgrass

Eelgrass (Zostera marina) distribution in the Niantic River, Connecticut based on survey data conducted during 1987-2006 by the Millstone Environmental Laboratory, Dominion Nuclear Connecticut.

Dark green areas on maps from 1987 to 2002 indicate presence of eelgrass. Lighter green areas in the 2003-2006 maps indicate sparse (= 10% cover) eelgrass abundance with darker green indicating heavier abundance. (adapted from figure 8 of the Eelgrass chapter, DNC 2007)
